Wendy Fuchs-Cey came to Saskatoon for love, and now her love of the salon industry has her back in business.

Fuchs-Cey had her own salon in Cochrane, Alta., for almost 14 years before moving to marry a Saskatoon man.

"I really missed the people," Fuchs-Cey said of why she opened Foxtails Hair & Gift Studio on Avenue W. "And I really love the creative side of doing hair."

Fuchs-Cey does anything to do with hair and also sells a wide array of gift items.

"This area seemed to be lacking a gift kind of store," she said.

Besides the salon, she has brought in three styles of cards, Bearington Bears stuffed animals, soy candles, home decor items such as vases, the Upper Canada Spa line, placemats and linens.

She also has the Claire Burke line of potpourri and a collection of frames.

And she has a large order of pewter ware, such as serving dishes and tableware, coming in.

"I tried to pick things that are unique," she said. "I've only brought in stuff I would want myself."

Having worked in the industry for many years, Fuchs-Cey knew what she wanted with her new place.

"I like the intimacy of the shop," she said. "It has a boutique style to it."

The location serves areas from Montgomery Place to Holiday Park and is easily accessible to out-of-town clients from places such as Vanscoy, she said.

Foxtails is open Tuesday to Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and by special appointment.
